The Associazione Qualita’ e Formazione (Quality and Education Association) through the website www.qualitaeformazione.com opens a window onto the worldwide research, especially in the Germanic area, about the relationship between urban planning and the psyche, referring to the most recent discoveries of its functioning through neurosciences.
It is in the memory of prof. Corrado Beguinot and his heartfelt denunciation “The city kills” that this work began: it is proposed to spread, through the website of the Associazione Qualità e Formazione, the contents of international specialized publications concerning urban psychology.
It is interesting to point out how much in urban planning research is growing the need to give indications on the individual/environment resources, that every city can offer.
Urban planners are now wondering about what kind of relationship human beings establish both with the surrounding soil, and also with the world they construct, which includes buildings, communication and information.
Urban psychology therefore addresses to a world made of anthropized nature, focusing on social and cultural interactions in their psychological implications with human beings.
Urban psychology is still a relatively young discipline and is characterized by a high degree of interdisciplinarity. Indeed, urban psychological issues also include aspects of globalization and sustainable development and therefore is strictly related to political science.
An aspect of the current research of urban psychology is aimed to investigating the relationship between the stimuli of sensory sensations and the stress on mental health.
In this context research is also carried out on proper interventions to activate the resilience inherent in every city, not only after catastrophic events, but in everyday life, in a perspective that is an alternative to the “city that kills”.
